What this quote is trying to say is that the reward for doing what is right it's mostly to respect yourself to have dignity. For example if one you’r friend from work offers you a cigarettes and you know it's bad for your lugs and you say and you know that's right it means that you have respect for body and your self as well. Another example could be that if you did something and you tell the truth it means that you have dignity and you are also telling the truth as well.
